John Rudkin B.Ed (Hons) Design Education, Apple Distinguished Educator hands over iPad award on behalf of Blackpool Schools Partnership
"Micro Computer Consultants, MCC Digital (www.MCCdigital.com
) have been longtime supporters of the dedicated work of Creative and Professional Educators in the North West. We have been established over 30 years and we have had the pleasure of helping and supporting Schools and Colleges in many ways.
In November 2016 we worked with Blackpool Schools Partnership, through our friends at Waterloo Academy, supporting their annual teachers training programme in the town again.
The Blackpool Schools Partnership event, held at Blackpool's famous Winter Gardens was attended by over 300 Blackpool teachers and hosted Mr Vic Goddard, probably one of the most famous head teachers in the UK today; Mr Goddard delivered a Keynote speech which extolled and exuded the real stories and values behind his work at his beloved Passmores Academy; Passomores came to the public’s attention in TV’s 'Educating Essex'. Mr Goddard spoke light-heartedly, but in a heart-felt way, about how refusing to ever let a student fail realised a passion in developing the capabilities of young people - about education, the privileged position he had of being able to relentlessly progress high expectations with an infectious belief that everyone has something to offer the world.
MCC Digital were delighted to be able to continue to support the Educational unique work and awarded a prize to one lucky individual professional, Katie Davids, a Year 2 teacher from the town.
The prize was handed over by John Rudkin, Apple Distinguished Educator (awarded by Apple USA), ex Blackpool Senior Teacher, Community and Educational champion who was recently appointed as MCC's Education Development Manager. John is a long standing member of Northwest Digital Leaders and an ex Lancashire County Council Teacher Adviser.
Reflecting with Katie on the remarkable Educational story and Apple based technological leverage the town took advantage of, from the earliest IT growth at Blackpool 6th Form College and Blackpool and the Fylde College, the later inspirational establishment of the unique Blackpool City Learning Centre, the award winning projects which brought £m of investment that swept through the town in the early 2000s and even to the explosion of creativity and cost efficiencies that was realised by Apple being introduced into Blackpool Councils own Architects Department.
MCC Digital are delighted to be associated with some remarkable people and projects in Blackpool; every one is a champion of excellence and dedication to the development of others and deserving or a huge hand of applause and recognition."
